I am sorry for the delay to this list – my diabetes and advancing years resulted in some falls, the latest one of which resulted in my being sent to the Caithness Hospital at Wick; I suffered 3 cracked bones and vertebrae, and am having to take things more easily.

This list contains the second instalment of the smaller transport items from Peter Davey’s collection in Bristol

Latest titles: London Trolleybus Depots part 3, by Hugh Taylor, laminated hardback, together with 4 plans, 184pp 18 being in colour, £44.

Around Brighton by Trolleybus, part 1; by Mervyn Stedman, 162pp, lots of colour £45

Coming soon:

Around Ipswich by Trolleybus, by Colin Barker, h/b

London Transport Country Buses, part 2 – North

New customers: please note that I always try and note serious defects, but not blemishes like inscriptions, bookplates, odd handwritten notes, slight creasing/grubbiness/tears, dust spots, or rusty staples. Inevitably dustwrappers (d/w) are often worn at the edges. Also folded maps often have small tears at the folds, but again, I will note any more serious tears.

Postage is extra at cost, and there is no packing charge for second-hand material.   This list only represents a fraction of my stocks – please enquire about other titles.

Measurements I give for posters, plans, photographs etc. are approximate.

Abbreviations: dw = dustwrapper, pp = pages, pb or sb = softback, hb = hardback, inc = includes, OS = Omnibus Society

Finally: If anyone is considering disposing of some or all of their collections, then distance is no object, my son Barnabas [07795201502] can travel to calls in England, while I can cover Scotland.

Thomas Telford, 2. Life of Thomas Telford, “Civil Engineer, written by himself, containing a descriptive narrative of his professional labours with a folio atlas of copper plates, edited by John Rickman… 1838.” It has taken several years to bring this reprint to completion because of the difficulties in reducing the size of the plates which were much larger than the text, and many of which have had to be folded. The text and illustrations were bound separately and in different sizes, but we have managed to combine them in one volume. The text comprises 719pp and there are 82 plates. These include canals [Ellesmere, Caledonian, Birmingham], bridges [Buildwas Iron, Bewdley, Tongueland, Dunkeld, Alness, Helmsdale, Menai Suspension], aqueducts [Chirk, Pont-y-cyssylte], harbours & docks [Aberdeen, Dundee, St. Katherine], and roads [Glasgow & Carlisle, Lanarkshire, Holyhead]. It is thread sewn for strength and hard bound in blue buckram with gold lettering on front and spine.  (I believe I paid over £3000 for the originals, I was told that, oddly, the text volume was much rarer than that of illustrations). The first (and may be the last!) print run is limited to 50 copies, £145

New customers: please note that I always try and note serious defects, but not blemishes like inscriptions, odd handwritten notes, slight creasing/grubbiness/tears, dust spots, or rusty staples. Inevitably dustwrappers (d/w) are often worn at the edges. Also folded maps often have small tears at the folds, but again, I will note any more serious tears.
